It’s never a good sign when your own family is questioning your sanity but that’s the case with the Nadya Suleman the single mother of octuplets born in California last week. Suleman already has six children between the ages of 7 and 2 and no husband or s.o. to help her. She conceived the octuplets through IVF and Nadya’s mom last week said she had consulted a psychiatrist over “Nadya’s obsessions with children.”

Medical ethicists weighed in last week over whether or not it was appropriate for fertility specialists to have implanted so many embryos given that there was a possibility all eight would take. Never mind the ethics of a single woman with six kids having more.

Here’s where I want you to weight in Dear Readers, especially you moms who have tried IVF, should their be some sort of psychological profile that a woman must pass before receiving IVF? How many is too many kids? Are reality shows skewing the public’s perception of what it takes to have multiples?

Read more on the octuplets here and weigh in with your own comments as always.
